Between 10:37pm Saturday and 1:30am Sunday, Microsoft experienced issues with their Azure network that impacted SMX mail filtering services. The root cause was Microsoft ceasing to announce SMX network prefixes via BGP at 22:37 and again at 23:31, which effectively made SMX infrastructure unreachable on the internet. As a result, all inbound and outbound mail filtering services were unavailable during this period. BGP routing announcements were restored at approximately 00:10am, with services gradually coming back online from that point. Full functionality was confirmed restored by 1:30am Sunday.

We are currently aware of an issue where the logs in the SMX email admin portal are not displaying at present. Mail flow is not impacted . We are investigating this issue at present and we will update you once we have further information.

Adjustment to the Quarantine Self-Release notification emails: You may notice that the SMX logo has been removed from the top of the quarantine self release emails . We found that the logo was not rendering correctly for users on Microsoft Outlook, causing display issues. To ensure the email remains clean, readable, and consistent across all platforms and devices, we have decided to remove the SMX logo from the top of all QSR emails. All links and functionality within the email remain exactly the same.

We are currently seeing an increase in false positive issues due to a misclassification of emails with one of our scanning engines, we are currently working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. For any urgent emails you can add a temporary whitelist in the SMX email admin portal. Further updates to this issue will given as soon as they are known.

This issue has now been resolved and any rejected emails can be sent again now. We apologise for any inconvenience caused .

At present there is an issue where users are not able to log into the SMX email admin portal. We are currently working on this issue to resolve this as soon as possible. Further updates regarding this will posted to this status page once they are known.

Some customers who are using Office 365 with SMX may see their emails queuing at present. This has been raised with Microsoft who have advised there is an issue at present with the Office 365 server. They are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Further updates and information will be posted here once they become available.

We are aware of an issue where mail search data is not populating in the SMX admin portal. We are investigating a fix and will provide updates as they come to hand

We are continuing to investigate this issue, we can however confirm that mail flow, Smart Rules, and any policy sets are unaffected. The issue seems to be limited to how data is being displayed.

We have restarted some services at the back end, and both inbound and outbound mail search now displays the expected data. We will continue to monitor.

Today there has been an increase in False Positive emails due an update pushed by one of our filtering vendors in error. This issue has now been resolved. If you have experienced a rejected email please send it through again now. SMX apologises for any inconvenience caused.

We are aware of an incident affecting Microsoft 365 services this morning, including email services (Exchange Online). Currently, we are not seeing any impact or delays to message delivery in or out of Microsoft 365 for SMX customers. For further details, refer to the Microsoft 365 status page at https://portal.office.com/servicestatus. SMX will continue to monitor this incident and provide updates as appropriate.

SMX does not use Crowdstrike within our security solutions so are not impacted by yesterday evenings issues. We have not seen any issues with email delivery overnight as the mail servers appear to be unaffected by the software changes that caused the issue. If you have any concerns about your email security please to reach out to us - we have a variety of solutions that complement Microsoft and Google and can secure and store email independently as a back up.

At present we are seeing emails queuing for customers who are using Office 365 with SMX. We believe this issue is related to access issues with Microsoft services: Microsoft 365 Status (@MSFT365Status) on X: "We're investigating reports indicating users are unable to access multiple Microsoft 365 services. We're examining our service telemetry to isolate the source of impact. More info can be found in the admin center under MO805755 SMX are continuing to monitor this issue with Office 365 and we will update this status page once we have more information the on progress of this.

This issue has now been resolved, if there are any emails which are queued they should be delivered over the next hour or so as they retry.

An issue has been identified where there is an increase emails are being rejected due to DKIM, a fix is under development for this issue. Further details will be updated here once they are known.

On Monday 27th May SMX was made aware of an issue where a small number of emails being sent into SMX customers were failing DKIM and were being rejected by SMX in error. Our initial assessment was that the issue was contained to a single sender, however our investigations show that it may be impacting a very small number of additional senders and customers. These emails are being rejected before they reach SMX email policies preventing them from being whitelisted or opted out from filtering checks. A fix is currently being developed for this issue. Before this is released it will undergo thorough testing to make completely sure there is no adverse impact to any other aspects of email filtering. We will provide regular updates on progress. SMX would like to apologise to the customers that have been affected by this issue and appreciate your patience while we address this with urgency.

The SMX team have continued to work on the issue since it was first identified and are confident that a fix has been developed. Rigorous testing is currently underway and it is our intention to implement the update today, once we are 100% confident it solves the issue for all.

The fix for this issue has been rolled out to all SMX mail servers and these messages are no longer being rejected. We are continuing to monitor for any issues.

There is currently an issue where Dreamscape Networks are experiencing some DNS resolution problems (MX records are not able to be resolved) which is resulting in SMX customers not able to look up these domains . These domains will have the NS servers: ns1.syrahost.com ns2.syrahost.com This problem is external to SMX , however we are clearing the cache on a regular basis to so the correct DNS records can be picked up. Further details regarding this will provided once they are known.

A work around is in place which should help prevent DNS failures and allow these domains to resolve. We are working with Dreamscape Networks to resolve this issue fully.

Two instances of the SMX subscription engine were running causing duplicate reports to be sent. We have fixed this issue and apologise for any inconvenience or confusion.

There is a current issue sending to some New Zealand domains due to some external providers who are experiencing issue with their DNS set up. Once we are aware of any updates to this issue we will inform you via this page.

Some customers maybe experiencing issues sending to Australian domain names , we are investigating this at present and we will update you once we have more information.

An issue has been identified where emails are being incorrectly rejected due to DMARC , a fix is being worked on for this at present. In the meantime you can opt out the sender the SMX email admin portal. Further updates will be posted once they are known.
