We experienced elevated error rates and intermittent performance degradation affecting search traffic due to a combination of infrastructure strain and unexpected automated traffic patterns. The issue primarily impacted search functionality and resulted in multiple brief spikes in server errors.
Systems are currently stable. Error rates have returned to normal levels, and search performance is operating within expected thresholds. We are continuing to monitor closely and further analyze traffic patterns to prevent recurrence.

A subset of BigCommerce customers experienced product listing pages failing to load results due to a template change on the BigCommerce platform (we estimate). The change caused Searchspring’s Snap integration to misinterpret the “Search Results” page as a category, applying an invalid background filter that returned no products. The issue was intermittent and did not affect Searchspring’s core search service. Functionality was restored within minutes, likely following a rollback of the update by BigCommerce.
We have identified an incident that our Search API is currently down, post AWS outage. The team is currently investigating, and identified a potential problem.
We have isolated the problem to be fully related to AWS outages. Indexing, Search functionality and also management console are impacted.
In order to protect our system and make sure we get services back as quickly as possible once AWS outage is recovered, we have to put our Management Console into maintenance mode. Users are blocked from making any changes as of now. Thanks for your understanding during this difficult time!
Updating impact: we have confirmed the impact is confined to the same region (us-east) as AWS has identified. Traffic on us-west and other regions are still fine.

Shopify has acknowledged the issue on their end is working towards a solution. They have not yet provided us with a timeline. Once they have implemented a fix, we will be able to evaluate if Live Indexing can be re-enabled for customers who were previously running it.
Shopify has begun making changes to resolve the API issue which started last week. As a result of those changes, we are currently experiencing issues with data collection from their platform. Our team is currently investigating the root cause of the issue. We will provide another update within the next hour.
We are currently awaiting an update from Shopify regarding API changes that they've made. Search is operational, however we are not receiving properly formatted Collection data from Shopify. Additionally, product data may be stale. We will provide additional information as it becomes available to us.
It appears that Shopify has rolled back the undocumented API changes that they made overnight, as we are now receiving data and collections have been restored. As we have not yet received a confirmation or update from Shopify, we are continuing to monitor the situation. We are currently investigating an issue that is impacting the data structure of some BigCommerce customers. We believe we have found the source of the issue already and are currently working on resolving it.
We identified the issue as being a change in the default delimiter for handing BigCommerce data feeds. This impacted our ability to read the data feed structure for BigCommerce customers. We have corrected the issue and are re-indexing customer's who encountered the error, once the index is complete the problem should be resolved.
