Telia Norge AS, known simply as Telia.no, is the second-largest telecommunications company in Norway and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Swedish multinational Telia Company AB. It traces its Norwegian roots back to 1993 with the founding of NetCom AS, a brand name it successfully used until rebranding to Telia in 2016 to align with its Nordic parent company. This move enabled Telia to offer comprehensive fixed-line broadband, fiber-optic connections, and digital TV alongside its mobile network. Telia is recognized as a leader in next-generation mobile technology deployment in Norway. It was the first operator in the country to launch 5G services in 2020 and achieved nationwide 5G coverage for nearly 99% of the population by late 2024, ahead of its competitors. This rapid rollout, powered by a partnership with Ericsson, has dramatically increased mobile data traffic by over 100% while simultaneously improving energy efficiency, demonstrating its focus on both performance and sustainability. The company's networks have been powered by 100% renewable energy since 2020, and it aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. Telia Norge continues to evolve its infrastructure, constantly upgrading its 4G network to complement the high-speed 5G rollout and is actively developing advanced use cases for businesses, such as delivering secure private 5G networks for critical sectors like the armed forces and logistics. The company holds a significant position in the mobile market, commanding roughly 39% of mobile subscriptions, placing it firmly as the second-largest operator and the primary challenger brand. It is a critical hub for essential digital infrastructure, consistently driving competition, innovation, and digital transformation in Norway.
