Estado de Stan

Stan. is a leading Australian subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) streaming service. Its business model is based on providing a broad range of entertainment, including TV shows and movies, as well as live sports, through a tiered subscription service. The company's history began in 2015 as a joint venture between Nine Entertainment Co. and Fairfax Media, with the goal of being a major local competitor to global streaming giants like Netflix. Following the merger of Nine and Fairfax, Stan is now a fully owned subsidiary of Nine Entertainment Co., a major Australian media conglomerate. Stan's primary revenue streams are generated from monthly subscription fees. It offers different pricing tiers that vary based on the number of simultaneous streams and video quality, from Standard Definition to Ultra HD. A key part of its business strategy is its ability to secure exclusive content deals with major international and local studios. The company has a long-standing partnership with Hollywood studios like MGM and Lionsgate and has also secured exclusive output deals with premium television producers like AMC and Showtime, which gives it a pipeline of high-quality, exclusive content. In addition to licensed content, Stan has a strong focus on original productions, with its Stan Original series and films serving as a major differentiator and a key part of its competitive advantage. These original productions, such as Wolf Creek and Bloom, help the service retain subscribers and attract new ones. In 2020, Stan expanded its business model with the launch of Stan Sport, an add-on service that provides live and on-demand access to a variety of sports, including rugby union, tennis grand slams, and motorsport. This strategic move was designed to attract sports fans and compete directly with other sports-focused streaming services like Kayo Sports. The introduction of Stan Sport has diversified the company's revenue streams and broadened its target audience. By leveraging its parent company's media assets and investing in exclusive and original content, Stan has successfully positioned itself as a major player in the highly competitive Australian streaming market. It competes on price, a curated content library, and its unique sports offering. The company continues to innovate with new features and a commitment to producing high-quality local content.
