Estado de Whois.com

Whois.com is a well-known online service that provides a publicly accessible directory for looking up information about domain names. While its name suggests a singular focus, its business model has diversified to include a variety of related services. The primary purpose of the WHOIS lookup tool is to provide information on who owns a domain name, including details such as the owner's name, contact information, the registrar through which the domain was purchased, and key dates like the domain's creation and expiration. This service is essential for cybersecurity professionals, trademark lawyers, and individuals looking to purchase a domain that is already registered. The underlying WHOIS database is regulated by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which requires registrars to maintain this publicly searchable information to ensure accountability on the internet. Whois.com monetizes its service not only through advertising but also by selling a full suite of products that are directly related to the information it provides. It acts as a domain name registrar itself, offering services like domain name registration, various types of web hosting (including shared, WordPress, and cloud hosting), and professional email services. This allows the company to capture customers who use its free lookup tool to find an available domain and then purchase it directly from the site. This integrated business model of providing a valuable free tool while offering a full range of paid services positions Whois.com as a comprehensive solution for individuals and businesses looking to establish and manage their online presence.
