Porkbun — status

Porkbun is a domain name registrar and web hosting company founded in 2015 and based in Portland, Oregon. Its business model is built around competitive pricing and transparent fees, with a strong emphasis on a user-friendly experience and a unique, quirky brand identity. The company's core services include domain registration, a free website builder, email hosting, and SSL certificates. A key differentiator for Porkbun is its commitment to including valuable features for free that many competitors charge for, such as WHOIS privacy protection, which keeps personal information private in public databases. It also provides free SSL certificates from Let's Encrypt for all supported domains, which it can auto-renew for customers using its own DNS. Unlike some larger registrars that use aggressive upsells, Porkbun focuses on a clean interface and straightforward pricing, showing both the initial registration price and the renewal cost upfront. This transparency has helped it build a reputation for trustworthiness. The company has a strong customer base and has been recognized as a top domain registrar by publications like USA Today. Its hosting plans are designed to be accessible, from simple static sites to managed WordPress hosting, and it offers a money-back guarantee. The company's name and branding reflect its fun and friendly approach to business, which has resonated with a diverse clientele, from individual users to small businesses.
