NPM, which officially stands for "npm is not an acronym", is the de facto package manager for the JavaScript programming language. It is a critical component of the JavaScript ecosystem, consisting of three main parts: the npm registry, a massive public database of JavaScript packages; the npm CLI, or command-line interface, used by developers to interact with the registry; and the npmjs.com website, which provides a user interface for discovering and managing packages.
